Description

This session equips nursing home professionals with the knowledge and tools to effectively interpret and apply the State Operations Manual (SOM). Attendees will gain insights into regulatory expectations, survey processes, and strategies for maintaining compliance and improving resident care. Through practical examples and interactive discussion, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to use the SOM as a guide for operational excellence. 

Objectives: •Participants will understand the structure and purpose of the State Operations Manual •Participants will understand key regulatory requirements relevant to nursing facility operations •Participants will understand the survey process and how deficiencies are cited •Participants will be able to apply SOM guidance to real-world scenarios in long term care settings •Participants will be able to develop strategies to maintain compliance and improve quality of care & quality of life
