Elders and residents of facilities often report experiencing pain, but pain is a major deterrent to quality of life. Each facility has regulatory and an ethical, compassionate drive to manage a resident's pain. Often practitioners just automatically turn to pharmacological intervention, which is a real challenge with the Opioid crisis in America. This session will offer both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to improve the life of the residents. It will also include pain assessment to ensure the source of the reported pain is actually the treated pain and the importance of the care planning processes to appropriate pain management.
